PLL. Fashion. Love.

The Prettiest, Pretty Little Liars.

Although this wonderful drama/love story/suspense series is based for the "tween" era on ABC Family channel, it's sucked me in BIG time.

The plot is actually very intriguing and will leave you wanting more. That's what makes a good series right?
The acting is very good, each character is so unique and lovable (even the ones you hate) and the mystery story-line gets better each episode!

The best part (in my opinion) is the fabulous fashion. And I promise you that...it is truly fabulous.
Each character's style has such a different flare to them that screams out their unique character personality.

I'll start with my favorite,
Aria Montgomery - played by Lucy Hale:

In my mind, this girl can do no wrong in the fashion world. Designers, Laura Schuffman and Saba Salehi must be in hog heaven working with Lucy. Her personality, character, and cute petite frame can pull off the craziest  yet most classic outfits all in one episode.

She can wear a casual dress and
spice it up with spikes on the shoulders
to wear to practically any occasion:

Or make the outfit a little more risque with a deep plunge silky top and tribal printed mini-skirt:

And she always has a pop of color or "look at me" piece of clothing that makes the outfit...

like these gold sequined shorts with a
lemon blazer on top.
I would give anything to shop directly out of her wardrobe rack or personal closet as brilliant outfits (like the one below) come from her mind as well!

Here's some items to find if you love the look of Aria, just as much as me!

Her lovely bohemian style would most likely be found at stores such as Urban Outfitters, Forever 21, Anthropologie, The Buckle, and H&M.

On to my next favorite beauty,
Hanna Marin - played by Ashley Benson.

She and her character are a little more girly
than edgy Aria, but Hanna still has some fun
grungy looks in her closet!
Her long stems and beautiful coloring + classic blonde bombshell hairstyle works with many different looks.

She can look very elegant in
dresses such as these for red carpet events:

And tone it down a little in more
casual dresses like these:

Her look is very universal and classic
pieces work well on her.

My heart sank when I saw this top. I NEED it in my life.

The top can be worn sexy by showing off a black bra underneath and some skinny black trousers and heals, or toned down with some jean shorts or
long jeans and some heals!
She pulls this off better than the model. That's when you know something really works well on you.

Leopard print is very popular on the PLL set and I'm VERY ok with it. When put together right on a top or adding it as an accent piece like Ashley's character wore in a flowy blouse, it adds a bit of sexiness to a classy shaped top.

Hanna's clothing would most likely be found at stores such as Forever 21, BCBG, BeBe, and H&M.

Next in line is Spencer Hastings -
played by Troian Bellisario.

This girl could look stunning in a baggy hoodie and a pair of her boyfriend's sweats. Styling her would be a dream!
Her character's outfits reflect the look of a country club attendee mixed with some glam and flirty twists. Her character also LOVES cardigans...wonder why I love her so much?! ;)

The outfit below is a perfect representation of Spencer's character. She's modest with a flair of spontaneity.

Her character is meant to have an old money appeal to her. She's often in big flowy hats with flower print on one of her pieces of clothing and some kind of classic boot.

She's still got some sass to her for red carpet events (which her character does a lot as well!)...

She's one of the only actresses I can see in this combination. The tutu mixed with the tule fabric skirt fits her slender frame perfectly and mixes elegance with sexiness to the perfect tincture!

Spencer's style is timeless.
Spencer's look would most likely be found at stores such as Banana Republic, White House Black Market, and Anthropologie. Always classic, yet never dull!

And last, but not least,
Emily Fields - played by Shay Mitchell.

When I think of Emily's character fashion style, I think, cute and comfy. She's often seen in
baggy 3/4 length baseball tees with a pair of
jeans and a funky pair of boots.

Bad picture quality, but you get the jist. Her athletic character and body fits this style to a T! She doesn't stand out as miss fashionista, but her beauty comes from the "not trying" look.

You will rarely see this look on Emily in PLL, but I think Shay likes to get dolled up for events and definitely rocks it when she does!

She looks especially gorgeous in the photo shoot below. You can see that's she's having a ball and
looks very girly and is LOVING it all which is the
best accessory you can have.

She definitely pulls of the jeans and tee look...
no doubt about it.
Emily's style would most likely be found at
more casual stores such as,
American Eagle/Hollister, The GAP, and Target.

-------------------------------------------------

All of these looks keep getting
better as the episodes progress.
I'm sure I will be doing more posts on the
show and trying to match certain items to
affordable ones at local or online shops!

This topic to me can never get old. :)

Thanks for tuning in and I hope you enjoyed this rendition of hippie.chic.
Nighty night!

ESSENTIALS

ESSENTIALS
-----------------------------

Short post this evening as I've spent some very fun time editing my "Essentials" tab.

There are so many items that I find "essential" to my daily life. Call it materialistic, but hey, I love being a girl.

Check the tab out and comment back with your items you'd HAVE to have with you if stranded on a deserted island. I know it makes no sense at all to have beauty products with you when you're short on food and shelter, but you get the point. :)

On a more serious note, I'd like to take this time to send out positive messages and prayers for all those involved in Hurricane Sandy.
My heart goes out to those affected by the tragedy and I pray that they find relief very soon.

imPRESS in stripes!

I'm impressed.
-----------------------------------

Maybe you haven't heard the buzz about the new crazy called imPRESS press-on nail.
I decided to give it a try tonight to see what the crazy is all about and if these things last for a full seven days, I will be spending a lot more money at Walgreens! :)

If you haven't heard about imPRESS, the main difference is the applying method. There is no yucky nail glue that you have to reply every day when one nail pops off. You simply find the nail that fits your real nail, pull off the protective backing underneath the nail and press firm starting from the center and moving to the sides. The coating looks like a professionally done gel nail job done at a salon and they feel even lighter than acrylics!
Don't get me wrong, I love getting pampered and going to the salon, but I've been very bummed the last few times as the after result has really taken a toll on my natural nails. Removing gel or acrylic nails take layers off each time you try to get rid of that pain in the butt glue. Not to mention how weak and breakable they become.

Nicole Scherzinger is the spokeswoman for the brand and since she is very involved in the beauty/fashion industry, I'm taking her word...right now... ;)
Give me until next Sunday for my full approval.

Something to think about for a last minute event, don't want to drop $40 at the salon, wanting a funky design for Halloween? Check out the website. I got mine at Walgreens for only $7.99, and I know they sell at other store.

Here's some of the other designs,
plus many more on the website:

On to a very random subject...

This thought ran through my head today while Alex and I were watching Sunday football and the Pittsburgh Steelers wore their throwback uniforms worn in 1933.

This made me think, is the old statement of, "stripes make you look larger than you actually are".
Is that still true with today's fashion?

These men don't really make the look very flattering...especially the big boys that don't necessarily have the most "petite" figure. :)

But, when looking at the picture of a few well known Hollywood starlets, I think the design of the tops are still very fitting to all of their petite, fit bodies.

What are your thoughts? Are stripes flattering? Or are they better worn in a jail cell? :)

Comment on your thoughts!
Looking forward to hearing what you think.

Sleep well, friends and have a great Monday!

Something I'm Missing...

Pretty sight huh?!

Well, if you'd ever seen my feet in the "before" phase...
you'd think the after is pretty too!

I am so thankful I went through with my bunion surgery.
For someone who loves shoes, especially heels, as much as I do, it was so worth it.
In about 8 weeks I should be able to wear my beloved heels, or better yet, BOOTIES again! And the best part is that I can wear them with no more pain!

Until then, I've decided to dress up for my man tonight to be crazy and ice my foot on the couch.

I decided to wear one of my favorite dresses from a tiny surf shop in Anna Maria Island, FL called "North Shore":

with my favorite pair of tights from Target:

and the "something I'm missing..."?

these ADORABLE Levity Wynn Wedge Booties
at DSW for only $79.95. I'm in love.

8 weeks and counting... ;)

What I'm thankful for?
My wonderful doctor who I
now call an "artist" for fixing my feet.
For now, I will dream about booties and
the reunion will be that much sweeter.
Absence makes the heart grow stronger, right?

What's your favorite fall heel/wedge/bootie?
If you haven't tried a bootie yet,
what do you think of them?

Here's some of my other favorites...

Crown Vintage Fisk Bootie
DSW - $69.95

Fergalicious Ignite Bootie
DSW - $44.95

Jessica Simpson Jourdie Bootie
DSW - $89.95

Talk to you soon!

How do you define "style"?

(Currently listening to: Today's Hip-Hop and Pop Hits Radio - Pandora)

STYLE.

What is it that makes you feel "stylish"?

I feel that everyone has style even if they don't feel it.
You may not know how to "style" yourself, but depending on one's personality, each person has their own unique and awesome sense of style.

To me it all depends on the mood I'm in that day. The weather also plays a huge part in it since CO can have major mood swings from one day to the next!

I saw this outfit today and it immediately jumped out of the screen at me! GET ON MY BODY! :)

You may be thinking, Mollie, that's a little out there...how many pain killers are you actually on?!
But, this just screams STYLE to me!

Finding something such as this starry night skirt or a piece that grabs attention and building around it is how I start my outfit picking each day.

The cardigan is my favorite type of clothing that I own, by far. I have them in a variety of colors and find that it can be added to any type of style from fancy to casual and tie it together. My favorite way to wear it is with a graphic tee underneath, skinny jeans or leggings and a cute casual shoe like a pair of Vans or a riding boot.

The tank she is wearing under the cardigan is also another essential part of my closet. I have wide-strapped tanks in every color from white to lime green. They're perfect to add under a light jacket, a blazer, a sheer shirt, a sweater with a deep V (if you're not wanting to show off too much of the girls), or again an easy go-to cardigan!

I get the majority of my solid colored staple pieces from Target. That place is a Heaven/Hell scenario for me. I can't even walk by the women's clothing/shoes/accessories sections without grabbing something. They so reasonably priced and are continually upping their fashion grade! Although I wouldn't recommend spending too much on shoes there (my favorite pair of boots are from there and have ripped from wear and tear - literally).

I digress. Back to the outfit...she paired this with casual tennis shoe heals and a fun pair of dangle earrings and this now would work for any type of situation - casual lunch date to night out on the town!

Don't be afraid to put pieces together in your closet that you would normally turn your nose down at when thinking of them together. You'll be surprised at how fun mixing things together can be! Mix colors, textures, casual with fancy, and have FUN with what you wear! You'll feel that much better in it
if you had fun planning it.

Now my question to all of you...

What is it that you do in your routine
that makes you feel "stylish?

I'd LOVE to hear your answers!

Sweet Dreams, talk soon.

Welcome!

Welcome to hippie.chic!

(Currently listening to Bon Iver radio on Pandora)

I'm so honored you've chosen to follow along with me on my day-to-day journeys.

I've been told by many people, for a long time, to do something like this. To find a way to show everyone my passions and beauty secrets, because if you know me, "passionate" is a very good describing word.

I live for the days when I find that perfect shirt that lays flawlessly over a pair of skinny jeans and some riding boots. Then I find so much joy in adding that belt that ties in the boots and putting on my go-to long rhinestone cross necklace and picking out which skinny rings to wear depending on whether I'm going for a silver, gold, or rose look...then I look at my earring wall and choose the ones that jump out at me, begging to be worn. My favorite is deciding which watch to wear with my bracelets as they are my ultimate accessory. Then on to hair and makeup...that's a whole other wonderful journey for me each morning!

It's the little things in life that make you happy that matter the most, right?

I'm hoping to provide useful tips that I use each day when creating my "vision" of the look I decide on the night before. I have so much fun trying out new ideas and concepts and experimenting with mixing outfits up and trying new makeup and hair ideas. Please let me know what you think of each day's outfit, which is what I'm planning on doing...taking a picture at some point during the day of my outfit, hair, and makeup and blogging about that as well as my day and thoughts that have risen during that day. Some of them may be VERY random...I apologize in advance. :)

My boyfriend, Alex, tells me that I digress a lot when I speak. I think it's just because my brain is so excited about so many things all at once and wants to get it all out as fast as humanly possible! ha!

Most of you know me very well, but for those of you that don't, I am 25 (26 in a month!). I live in Highlands Ranch, CO with my wonderful boyfriend Alex and we couldn't be happier. We're very blessed to have found each other and to get to share our lives together. The perk is that we're best friends!

I work in the mortgage industry and even though it isn't even slightly related to what I'll be blogging about, I actually really enjoy it and love the people I work with! It makes the days go by much quicker when you enjoy what you do!

I have danced for the majority of my life and it is a passion of mine that keeps growing as I continue to grow! I recently have had two foot surgeries...both were genetics related and I've only made them worse by doing yoga and dance for many years. But after both feet are healed, which are healing very well already, I should be feeling better than I ever have and able to dance and yoga my brains out! :) I go to an amazing studio owned by a girlfriend of mine called TAPS...if you're ever interested in coming (whatever skill level is welcome) let me know! I'd love to introduce you to it! It brings me so much joy.

I am a devoted Christian and love living my life with and through God. I've never been the type to push my religion on others, so I hope I never come off that way. I am just so happy with the utmost bliss that my relationship with Jesus brings me on a regular basis and how close I feel to my church and the members of the congregation. It's like having a huge family sharing in your hopes and beliefs. Wonderful.

I am an only child and even though I hated it when I was younger, it was a blessing in disguise. I have gained a relationship with both of my parents that is so much more than a parent/child normal dynamic. They truly are two of the best friends I could ever dream up and I'm so thankful for all that they have given me and taught me and for making me the woman I am today.

There will be no rhyme or reason to my posts. Mostly just random, like myself. :)

I plan on going through my closet and taking pictures of my favorite items and telling you about them, such as where it's from, how much it was, and where you can find it, as well as what you could pair it with to make an outfit!

I also plan on making a few video tutorials on makeup and hair as I get asked frequently, "how do you do that?"and it's such an honor to hear that. It's why I'm doing this whole blog!
So, thank you. If there's anything you'd like me to do a tutorial on, please, let me know!

I grew up with very little self esteem and confidence and for the longest time wondered if I'd ever have any. Through a lot of self-work and surrounding myself with positive people that lift me up, I am finally so happy with the person I am and hope to share that joy with you!

Thank you for joining and I can't wait to hear your comments!

Here's today's couch outfit/makeup/hair...Although I was in a lot of pain and icing all day, I had a very pleasant time watching Pretty Little Liars episodes (I'm obsessed), drinking chocolate hazelnut/almond milk tea, doing my hair, nails, and makeup all while sitting on my comfy couch with the snow falling down!

Here's today's couch outfit/makeup/hair...

My nails even matched my lipstick! :)

Sweet dreams, all. Thanks for tuning in.
Talk to ya tomorrow. <3
